Facilitation Workshop
The Family Nurturing Center adheres to the principles of The Nurturing Parenting Programs and offers workshops that teach others to facilitate the program.
The Nurturing Parenting Programs® are family-based programs with a proven track record of preventing the recurrence of child abuse and neglect. Departments of Social Services, as well as other branches and organizations in the helping professions, have relied upon these Programs as a primary parenting program to break the generational cycle of child maltreatment and family dysfunction. Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory (AAPI-2)
The AAPI-2 has proven invaluable in assessing the parenting attitudes and child-rearing beliefs of parents and adolescents. Founded on five parenting constructs known to lead to abusive parenting, the AAPI-2 provides scores that profile parents at risk for abusing and neglecting children. Forms available in English and Spanish. (Now available on CD ROM.)
In this workshop, participants will learn:
- The Nurturing Parenting Program® philosophy, values, structure, and validation.
- A hands-on approach to conducting group-based Nurturing Programs® that includes facilitating weekly sessions, how to use program materials, videos and assessment tools, children’s and parents’ program activities, family home practice assignments, icebreakers, personal growth lessons, activities for personal power, alternatives to corporal punishment, building self-esteem, self-concept, and empathy in parents and children.
- Application of the Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory (AAPI-2).
